The love story of Glimar de Leon and Jolina Calpito began, as many modern romances do, on social media. In 2016, a connection bloomed between Glimar in Valenzuela City and Jolina in Pangasinan. Their bond grew so strong that Jolina moved to be with him, and in 2017, their happiness was completed with the birth of their daughter, Ayesha Glee.

In a small, humble home in Barangay Ugong, they were building a life filled with love and simple joys. But on a rainy August afternoon in 2018, that loving home became the scene of an unthinkable tragedy.

On August 11, Glimar de Leon, a mechanic, left for work as usual, kissing his partner and their one-year-old daughter goodbye. It was the last time he would see them alive. That afternoon, as a heavy rain kept most residents indoors, Jolina and baby Ayesha returned home from a neighbor’s house. They were unaware that they had been followed.

When Glimar returned home that evening, he was met with an eerie silence. The usual happy greeting from Jolina and Ayesha was absent. Puzzled, he entered the house and saw drops of blood on the floor. His heart pounding, he called out their names, but only silence answered. He rushed upstairs to their bedroom.

At first, in the dim light, he saw nothing. After a frantic search outside yielded no answers, he returned to the room, turned on the light, and noticed the mattress was out of place. He lifted it, and his world collapsed.

Beneath it lay the bodies of his beloved Jolina and their baby, Ayesha. The scene was devastating. In his grief and rage, Glimar’s cries of anguish alerted the entire neighborhood.

As police processed the horrific scene, they began questioning the neighbors. The breakthrough came from a young woman who was a close friend of Jolina’s and who lived right next door: Mary Ann Dupilas. Overcome with grief and a terrible burden, she made a courageous and heartbreaking decision to speak. She confessed to the police that she knew who was responsible for the incident: her own older brother, 21-year-old Loferian “Pogi” Dupilas.

Mary Ann recounted that on that rainy afternoon, Loferian had come home covered in blood, carrying a bloody knife and some electronic gadgets. He had signaled her to be quiet before washing his stained jersey and taking a shower. At the time, she was confused, but when she heard the news from next door, she understood the horrific truth.

Police found Loferian still mingling with the curious crowd outside the victims’ home. He was arrested immediately. At the precinct, he did not put up a fight and confessed to the entire sequence of events.

He explained that he had been drinking and using drugs that day when he saw an opportunity to steal a tablet from another neighbor’s open home. As he was leaving with the device, Jolina and Ayesha walked by and saw him with it.

Consumed by the paranoid fear that Jolina would report him for the petty theft, he made a horrific decision. He went to his house, grabbed a knife, and followed the young mother and her child into their home. He attacked Jolina, who fought for her life. During the terrible act, baby Ayesha began to cry. Seeing the innocent child as a nuisance and a potential witness, he silenced her as well.

The forensic examination revealed the true horror of the attack. Jolina had sustained 68 separate wounds, and it was confirmed that she had also been subjected to an unspeakable violation. Her one-year-old daughter had suffered three fatal wounds.

At the police station, a devastated Glimar came face-to-face with the man who had destroyed his world. Loferian offered a hollow apology, but for a father and partner whose entire life had been erased in a single afternoon, there was no forgiveness to be found. The case remains a chilling reminder of how a minor crime, amplified by substance abuse and paranoia, can escalate into an act of unimaginable cruelty.
