THE BROKEN PROMISE

Eleonor Indigo, born in 1982 in California, was taken in by her brother, Aristeo Indigo, and his wife, Ashley, in Las Vegas.

The couple was expecting their third child and offered Eleonor a fresh start on two conditions: she must find a job and abstain from substance use.

However, within a month, Eleonor had failed both conditions. She had not secured employment, and Aristeo and Ashley discovered she was using substances inside their home. Aristeo gave her a final ultimatum: she must move out by the end of the week.

On the day she was meant to leave, an argument erupted. Ashley called Aristeo at work, complaining that Eleonor was slamming doors and being disrespectful while the children were asleep.

Ashley, who was heavily pregnant, expressed extreme stress, telling Aristeo that Eleonor was raising her blood pressure. Aristeo promised to deal with the situation upon his return, unaware that a deadly escalation was already in motion.

The argument continued after the call. In a fit of rage and desperation over the impending eviction, Eleonor retrieved her 4-inch double-blade “Ninja” knife.

She pursued Ashley through the apartment, where the two young children, Alex and Annabelle, were awakened by the noise. Eleonor assaulted her sister-in-law, inflicting 14 wounds.

Ashley’s son, Alex, ran out of the apartment, covered in his mother’s blood, screaming for help. When the first responders arrived, they found Ashley collapsed on the floor, having sustained multiple stab wounds to her head, arm, and neck.

She was pronounced lifeless at the scene. Tragically, her unborn child did not survive the violent attack. Eleonor, who had sustained minor cuts on her hand, was rushed to the University Medical Center.

Upon her release, she claimed self-defense, arguing that Ashley was the one who first attacked her.

She was immediately arrested and charged with homicide, aggravated assault related to the passing of the unborn child, and child abuse/neglect. She was held without bail.

THE LACK OF REMORSE

The legal proceedings began two years later. Alex, the surviving son, provided heartbreaking testimony, recounting the scene and his mother’s final, courageous act: pushing him out of the room to save his life.

He also revealed his overwhelming guilt for failing to save her.

During the trial, Eleonor pleaded for leniency, crying as she expressed shame for her actions and asked for a reduced sentence due to her lack of a prior criminal record.

However, her brother, Aristeo, was unconvinced. He testified that her display of emotion was part of a manipulative performance. “I know who she is and what she’s all about,” he stated, dismissing her apology.

After only one hour of deliberation, the jury found Eleonor Indigo guilty. She was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 35 years for the secondary charges.

Despite having no prior criminal record, the judge ensured her sentence reflected the gravity of her violent betrayal.

The tragic end of Ashley and her unborn child was a direct result of Eleonor’s failure to respect the trust and boundaries set by her family, turning their offer of a fresh start into a devastating loss.
