On Sunday, a video spread rapidly, showing a man emerging from a black SUV.
Moments later, he was in a heated confrontation with a group of motorcycle riders.
As the argument and brawl unfolded, it was not yet clear what they were fighting about.
In the video, some people could be heard trying to stop the fight, but fueled by intense anger and emotion, the men refused to be held back.
In another angle, two motorists in helmets were seen ganging up on the SUV driver.

The Fatal Confrontation
According to the Antipolo Chief of Police, the altercation began with an allegation from a motorist that he was cut off by the SUV driver.
Unhappy with what happened, the motorist followed the black vehicle until they finally caught up with each other at 5:43 PM on Marcos Highway, Sitio Calumpang, Barangay San Jose.
If you have seen the video, you likely saw the two helmeted motorists ganging up on the SUV driver.
People were trying to intervene, and the cry of a child calling for “Daddy” could be heard.
But when the two motorists did not stop, the man in the white shirt pulled out a gun and fired multiple times.
The man in front of him collapsed. When no one else approached him, the video also shows the man realizing he had also shot a woman who was with the riders.
He then dragged the male rider’s body away from the SUV before picking up the woman and carrying her into his vehicle.
In other videos, people can be heard pleading with bystanders to block the SUV to prevent its escape.
However, the onlookers, seemingly overcome by fear, made no attempt to stop him.
The Arrest and Investigation
While the chaos unfolded, concerned citizens contacted the Antipolo police.
They quickly pursued the path the SUV had taken and cornered the vehicle at a COMELEC checkpoint, where the suspect was apprehended.
The culprit denied he was trying to escape; instead, he told authorities he only wanted to rush the woman he had accidentally shot to the hospital.
Regardless of his claims, the police immediately took him to the precinct.
There, the public learned the suspect’s name: Kenneth Alajar Bautista, 28 years old.
According to reports, he is a businessman from Quezon City but resides in Marikina.
The public was in disbelief over what they had seen, but those who knew him were even more shocked.
In one screenshot that immediately went viral, a self-proclaimed friend of the suspect described him as kind and loving to his family.
However, the friend did not agree with Bautista’s actions and suggested he should have fired a warning shot instead of shooting indiscriminately.
Another friend posted on social media, telling those who were quick to judge Bautista to find out the whole truth first.
While the internet was in an uproar, authorities quickly inspected the SUV.
Inside, they found one magazine with 15 bullets, another magazine with seven bullets, eight cartridge casings, and they also recovered the gun Bautista had used.
Conflicting Accounts
The initial police investigation revealed that Bautista and his partner were coming from a resort, while the motorists were visiting tourist spots in Tanay.
The motorists have not yet given a statement, but a video from their perspective circulated, which may have been the reason the chase began.
In this clip, the motorist claimed Bautista’s Fortuner cut him off.
However, people familiar with traffic laws noted that the SUV did not hit the motorcycle and that Bautista followed the correct procedure for overtaking, including using his hazard lights.
The suspect himself corroborated this in an interview. “Sir, was there really a traffic altercation?” the reporter asked.
“No, sir. No. They have a video, and it seems they were complaining, but it’s clear in the video that I was far. We did not swerve into each other.”
“I was already in my lane. I honked my horn because I was in a hurry,” he explained.
He denied hitting the motorcycle. He admitted he was driving fast, but his reason was that he was following his sibling, who was in another car.
“Instead of just letting me pass, they started cursing at me. I was already apologizing. ‘Kuya, sorry, I’m just in a hurry.’”
“He said, ‘P.I. ka! P.I. ka! You’re going to kill us! You’re going to kill us!’”
“But in their video, it’s clear I was far away. I really had no intention of hitting them. I was just in a hurry.”
The Victims and The Charges
Hours after the road rage incident, the Antipolo Police Chief confirmed that four people were rushed to the hospital.
The first was the man identified as Peter Guzon, 52, a businessman, who was hit by a bullet in the head.
The second was identified as Patrick Guzon, 22, a third-year college student, who was shot in the right arm. The father and son both reside in Barangay Daang Hari, Navotas.
The third was identified as Davis Minor, 28, who was reportedly just trying to mediate but was shot in the right chest.
The fourth was the suspect’s own live-in partner, who was shot in the thigh.
Three of them were quickly released from the hospital, but one remains in critical condition.
Using the evidence they gathered, authorities are preparing multiple charges against Bautista, including three counts of frustrated homicide.
This has divided public opinion. Some say he should not be charged with frustrated homicide because it was self-defense, as he was ganged up on and attacked.
However, others with knowledge of the law stated that he cannot use self-defense.
In court and under Philippine law, self-defense is only accepted if the suspect meets three specific criteria.
The Self-Defense Debate
In a post shared by a lawyer on social media, he explained that the first criterion is “unlawful aggression,” meaning it must be clear that you were violently attacked.
The second criterion is “reasonable necessity of the means employed,” meaning Bautista must prove that pulling out his gun and firing it was the only way he could stop the attack.
The third criterion is “lack of sufficient provocation on the part of the person defending himself,” meaning he must prove he did not start the road rage.
For the lawyer who posted this, going back to the video, yes, there was violence and punching.
However, seconds before the shooting, Bautista had the opportunity to retreat and get back into his car to de-escalate the situation.
But, according to the lawyer, Bautista chose violence. He chose to pull out his gun and fire eight times.
Although the ballistics report is not yet out, the lawyer stated that based on the video, the first bullet fired actually hit the suspect’s own live-in partner.
Yet, even after his loved one was hit, he did not stop. For that lawyer, Bautista’s actions cannot be called self-defense, but rather the behavior of someone who wanted to show he was superior to everyone else.
The Suspect’s Apology and Gun Ban
This is exactly the line of thinking of the authorities. For them, firing eight shots is not self-defense, which is why they are charging him with three counts of frustrated homicide.
If the case proceeds and he is found guilty, the suspect could be imprisoned for six to 12 years.
“My mother-in-law texted me that he (the victim) was undergoing CPR because his heart rate weakened,” Bautista said in an interview, “I am asking for forgiveness for what I did.”
“It was just due to the heat of the moment. We were both hot-headed. And please, don’t attempt to act like you are pulling something out, because you don’t know if the person you are fighting also has something.”
“It’s dangerous. It really messes with your mind.”
The next case filed against Bautista is a violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
When he was brought to the precinct, he could not present any papers proving he was licensed to carry the firearm he used.
Whatever the result of the first two cases, Bautista likely has no escape from the third charge: violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
If you watch the news, you may have heard about the gun ban declared by COMELEC.
It is effective from January 12, 2025, to June 11, 2025.
As of January 2025, COMELEC has only granted exemptions to just over 1,000 people, meaning only those individuals have the right to carry a firearm.
Normal citizens are only permitted to carry firearms if they can prove their job truly requires it for protection, such as cashiers or individuals tasked with transporting large sums of money.
According to the head of COMELEC, if you are a private citizen and are caught with a gun, even if you have a license, you will still be charged if you cannot present a Certificate of Authority from the commission.
If Bautista is found guilty of this, he could face one to six years in prison.
The road rage incident is still heavily discussed on social media, but whatever the outcome of the case, and whatever your theory or opinion, the Mayor of Antipolo has stated one thing:
No one has the right to harm another person, reminding everyone that a cool head is needed on the road.
